Goal Planning
Performance Management starts when an employee is hired. Goal Planning includes setting goals, creating a schedule and addressing any immediate concerns. During this conversation, the manager communicates the team’s overall objectives and the employee sets goals for individual development. Finally, the manager and the employee decide on a plan which will help the employee produce the desired results.
Goal planning can also include identifying specific on-the-job training and may include training from a specific mentor. This training should familiarize the new employee with their role in the team, the daily performance expectations and environment in which they will work.
